Can I join army having 1 child?

Just left a recruiting office n got shot Down. They said I'd have to be married. Im not on child support or anything my child is well token care of. I've heard of certain waivers but that wasn't even brought up. Are my dreams of becoming an army ranger out the door.. Please help with any advice on this thanks
