Military Veteran (Army 8yrs) looking for help with job/career placement.?

20Aug2009 I ETS'd (seperated) from the military with a "honorable discharge", under medical circumstances. My job in the military was as a mechanic (wheeled). Since I have gotten out I took a job in the oil field which I absolutely loved, however it took me to North Dakota. Being that I had been gone for 8yrs and it seemed that they were gonna keep me there for atleast another 4yrs, I chose to quit and relocate back home (Alabama) to be close to family. Since I have been home I have found it hard to find a job that pays well enough to start a family, build a house, have a good life etc. By no means at all am I looking for a hand out or a free ride, as I believe you get what you put in; but it's to the point now to where I'm facing the decision, once again to leave my family to where all my job offers are coming from. It seems as if, if you don't know someone, or not friends with someone etc etc there is no hope in finding a decent paying job here at home. To my surprise it also seems like being a veteran doesn't count for anything. I have tried monster, along with a couple different companies that try to help veterans with career/job placement, however none of the offers are coming from the southeast. All of my job offers are coming from out west (Tx. Ok, Co, Nv, Ca. or up north Nd, Sd, Pa, Wy, Mn etc.). If anyone has any information that might be able to help me find a good job here at home it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
