Why no use of spare wands in Harry Potter?

In the newest movie I found out that one does not have to use only one wand. The kid with the taped up wand and resulting faulty spells made me think that everyone could use only one wand. If I was in those books I would have many wands on bandoleros, hidden wands, wands in my shoes and socks, miniature wands, Swiss army knife wands etc. Why would an adventurer who knew he was going to get smacked around by trolls or thrown off a cliff and likely break his wand, not have spare wands? Also can they make wands if they are in prison or something? Like a shiv wand.
